101 Create Album, Upload Photo, Link Photo in Post

After receiving a series of PM's from new forum members about how to create an album, upload a photo to the galleries, and how to post a photo in a thread, I decided to consolidate all of these into a single 'how to'.

Hopefully the following instructions and graphics will make these processes easy and clear for new forum members to understand. Each step is followed by a screen snap to help explain the process.

Step 1: Click on the "galleries" tab and then click on 'My Albums'. See following image:




Step 2: Click on the option to create a new album. See following image:




Step 3: Fill in the appropriate info for your new album. See following image:




Step 4: Once the album is created and listed, look on the right side of the screen for the 'upload photos' option. See following image:




Step 5: (BTW- Before uploading a photo, I usually re-size the photo to about 800 pixels on the longest side. I also save it to a filesize that is less than 1 MB since that's the size that as a new member you are allowed to upload.) Browse your computer for the photos that you want to put in the album. See following image:




Step 6: After you click the 'Upload/Submit' button, you will get a confirmation screen showing you a thumbnail of each photo that you have selected. You can enter a title and other info for each photo. You will also notice that each thumbnail has a checkmark next to it indicating that it will be processed. If you change your mind, then uncheck the thumbnail and that file will not be processed. Once you've entered the info you want for each photo, then click on the 'Process' button as indicated. Step 7: Once the files have been processed you will see a thumbnail for each photo in your album. See following image:




Step 8: Clicking on a thumbnail will reveal a larger copy of the photo. If you scroll down the page you will also see some links below the photo. See following image:




Step 9: From the links below the photo, you will want to copy the one labelled "BB Code". Click on the "copy to clipboard" button. See following image:



NOTE: if the "Copy to Clipboard" button is missing, then click in the link and press CTRL + C to copy the link. COMMAND + C if on a MAC.


Step 10: Go to the forum section where you want to post your photo and open a new thread. You will be inserting the link, along with any comments you have about the photo, in the edit window that appears. See following image:




Step 11: Once you have inserted the link, you can preview and/or submit your post and you will see your photo and any text that you have written. See following image:



And there you have it. Once you submit the post then other forum members will be able to see your photo and give you comments and feedback.

Thanks Mario, This is a great 101 Posting. Will there be direct 101 pages like this in a menu? ie; Gallery, Contest, Premier member, Voting

That's not a bad idea. Maybe when the next forum re-organization gets done all the 'guide' threads that are spread around could go in one place.

I'm sorry to bother, but I'm new here,,, at least on what posting is concerned,,,

How do I delete a gallery? I've made a mess of mine, and I tried to delete some pics, (Admin Options/Edit/Delete), but they insist on not going away, I'm getting desperate as the more I try, the messier it gets! So I thought it would be better to delete the whole thing and start from scratch....
